Moser Baer has announced the launch of a new initiative in content distribution, foraying into the entertainment industry through the home video market.
The company said that in order to help curb piracy, it has entered the market with DVDs and VCDs, which are priced at Rs 34 and Rs 28 respectively. Currently, DVDs and VCDs are priced between Rs 200 to Rs 600, and Rs 100 to Rs 200 respectively.
Moser Baer will release video content on DVD and VCD formats using its proprietary and patented technology, which enhances quality and in turn reduces cost significantly. The company will be creating content in edutainment and devotional categories as 'made-for-DVD-films'. Besides, mainstream Hindi movies will also be a part of the company's plan.
