Nvidia touts 'world's fastest GPU'

Back in February, GamePro (Digital Arts sister magazine) published a report claiming that the current video card war had shifted heavily in ATI's favour, as more complaints arose from consumers regarding incompatibility between NVIDIA's 8800 series cards and DirectX 10 on Windows Vista.

But it seems that NVIDIA has already begun its counter attack. Thursday, the company announced that it will release another video card that not only runs an average of 10 to 15 per cent faster than its previous record-breaking model, the GeForce 8800 GTX, but is also fully tuned for use with DirectX 10. Called the GeForce 8800 Ultra, this new GPU wields 768MB of video memory, and will be available to consumers starting May 15.
